Empower Network Review

Empower Network

I am always skeptical when I read about the various make money online systems that appear in my inbox every day. But one program that caught my eye is called the Empower Network, by David Wood and David Sharpe. This is because it was recommended to me by someone I trust, so I decided to sign up and check it out it for myself.

On a basic level, the Empower Network is a viral blogging platform. But if you dig down deeper, it is actually more than that. And if you have the ability to promote it properly, it really has the potential to make you a lot of money. Of course you are still pretty skeptical about what I am talking about, so let me explain how it all works in my Empower Network review.

What Is The Empower Network

The Empower Network launched on October 31, 2011 and in the 53 days since it launched it has attracted over 13,000 paying members and paid out over $2 million in commissions. According to Alexa, Empowernetwork.com is already the 324th largest site in the US. Pretty impressive, right? You will see why after I explain the setup.

A basic membership to the Empower Network gets you access to the viral blogging platform and it will cost you $25 a month. Essentially, it is a hosted platform for you to blog on, similar to WordPress.com or Hubpages.com. It fact it uses WordPress on the backend, so it should be familiar to most of you already.

Empower Network Blog

To see it in action, you can take a look at my own Empower Network blog here:

How Will Empower Network Make You Money?

To see why it is considered a viral blogging platform, check out my Empower Network blog more closely. Notice the ad in the header, the sidebar ad, and the banner ad on the bottom of the page. It utilizes the Facebook comments system (which is viral in nature) and it has social sharing button everywhere. So if anyone clicks through any of the ads on the page, they get sent through the sales funnel and your affiliate id is cookie’d.

Ok, that’s great. But why should you care?

Because if anyone signs up via your link, you get 100% commissions, sent instantly and directly to your bank account. So if someone you refer purchases a basic membership you will get $25 a month recurring commissions.

Not only that, but the Empower Network uses a tiered commission structure.

You see, the first sale you make goes to you, but the 2nd, 4th, 6th and every 5th sale after that goes to your Empower Network sponsor (the person who referred you). As you recruit more people to join under you, and these people recruit their own people, you will continually be taking a cut from all the people under you. Over time, this means a lot of money for you.

Empower Network Commission Structure

And it actually gets better…

There are also a couple of upsell products that people can buy. First, there is the Empower Network Inner Circle, which is a set of audio interviews from members who are already making 6 figures a year. This is a $100 a month. Then there is the Costa Rica intensive training program which is a $3000 seminar that David Wood presented this year. This is an additional $500 one time fee.

If someone you refer purchases all these upsells, then you can potentially earn $625 up front, and $125 a month recurring commissions. And that’s just the products they offer now. There are other products in the pipeline as well which will only increase your commissions.

Now here’s the ingenious part of the system.

You can only get those upsell commissions if you purchase those products yourself. If you haven’t bought the product yet and someone buys it through your link then that commission goes up to your sponsor. So essentially you are heavily incentivised to buy all the upsells yourself for maximum commissions.

Empower Network Blogging Platform

That’s all well and good, but if the blogging platform doesn’t work, then everything else don’t matter.

What really made me interested in joining the Empower Network was the possibility of using it as a powerful Web 2.0 link building property ala Hubpages.com.

Not too long ago, Hubpages was my favorite Web 2.0 property because I could write articles on it with a link back to my site. Google loved these hubs, and I had several hubs ranking #1 for several keywords.

Now post Google Panda, Hubpages.com is no longer very affiliate friendly. They discourage the use of affiliate links and some of my hubs were taken down because they talked about topics they didn’t like anymore (like article spinning for example).

With my EmpowerNetwork blog, I think I have found my replacement. It is completely affiliate friendly and you can pretty much post whatever you like on your blog. You can promote other products or just use the link juice it provides to help your other sites rank better as well.

I mentioned earlier that Empowernetwork.com already ranks as the 324th most visited site according to Alexa. By the same measure, Hubpages.com is ranked #207. In less than 2 months, EmpowerNetwork.com has quickly climbed up to become one of the most powerful sites on the internet.

Empower Network Blogging Results

I’ve only been a member for a short period of time now, but I am already encouraged by the results I have seen so far.

Here is an example of one post I have written:

Almost immediately after posting, it ranks #1 in Google for the keywords:

ArticleRanks vs TrafficKaboom
TrafficKaboom vs ArticleRanks

Sure, it’s not the most competitive keyword, but they are targeted, buying keywords that will help me earn some additional commissions. But more importantly it tells me that Google already sees EmpowerNetwork.com as an authority site. And it’s easy to see why.

Need some additional proof? I also put together an Empower Network bonus package and posted it as a blog post here:

Shortly after publishing this post, I’ve started ranking #1 for the Empower Network bonus keyword as well.

In the Empower Network training, they tell you, you have write a post to your blog every day. So in theory, every member is doing this and building links to their content and trying to get their posts ranked higher. And as more and more links are being built, the EmpowerNetwork.com becomes more and more of an authority site.

As I continue to write more posts on my blog, I will be sure to keep this Empower Network review updated with my latest results.

EmpowerNetwork eWallet

One big question I get all the time about the EmpowerNetwork is with receiving payments. Previously, the Empower Network relied on the premise that it could get all of its members Merchant accounts. What happened is a long story, but needless to say things didn’t work out so well.

And while EmpowerNetwork did support receiving payments from Paypal (which I had been using) and AlertPay, they really wren’t reliable options either.

So the two Dave’s went back to the drawing board and came up with an in-house eWallet system for accepting payments. It costs an extra $19.95 per month, but now every member is instantly approved for the EmpowerNetwork eWallet and they can start receiving commissions instantly. Oh and it works internationally too!

At first glance, new members may be put off by this extra $19.95 fee. First of all, keep in mind that this is much cheaper than a regular Merchant account which can cost upwards of $30-40/mo.

But what about Paypal which is free?

Actually, Paypal isn’t free. You see Paypal makes money by taking a cut out of each transaction, as much as 4% from looking at my own account.

So lets say you sold an Empower Network Basic Membership + the Inner Circle and Costa Rica upsells for $625. Paypal would then take $25 of that commission off the top, which is already more than what the eWallet would cost you.

So the more memberships you sell, the more money you will be losing via Paypal. That is definitely not a good business model for you.

Empower Network Final Thoughts

With all the hype you see written about it, you may think that the Empower Network is a scam. But from what I’ve seen so far, I think it seems legit to me. The blogging platform is good, the training is useful and the system as I understand it appears viable.

While I am still a new member of the Empower Network, I am pretty excited about the possibilities. If you already are an influential person, with a loyal following already then I can see you making a ton of money with it right away. Just show people how you make money with it, and you can easily get your followers excited to sign up under you.

If you are just a regular guy like myself, then seeing results might take a little more time. But I think with a little bit of work, the Empower Network has the potential to make you some serious money if you can promote it right.

I’ve also put together a nice Empower Network bonus package for anyone who joins our team. Not only will I personally help you to learn my link building system, you will get a bunch of other exclusive goodies as well.

[the link in my first comment was incorrect] This is a great Empower Network review. When I first joined I didn’t fully realize how blogging daily could turn into profits, but consistency is key and when you believe you can do it; magic starts to happen; people start to join you and your life is never the same. I love coaching my new members on how to navigate through Empower.

  2. says

Hi Josh, Great review of the most powerful online marketing product. You are on the ball with explaining this unique online business. Empower Network is basically a three way Success formula. One is to Create Compelling content by blogging every day, two is to Capture Leads by promoting and syndicating those content through paid services and social media, and three is to Convert Sales and make money coming into your bank account like clock work

    Hi Josh,

Great Review. I am thinking of joining soon. I am Singaporean working in Egypt – just wondering if this will work here too? How do we get the learning materials and stuffs like the videos/etc. Will this be sent via online and we are supposed to download the learning materials? Appreciate your kind advise, pls. Thanks.

    • Josh says

Hi Vijey. All the learning materials you can listen to online at the site, or you can download to your computer if you like.

  4. Aj says

Hello Josh, My question is on the commision structure. With directly sponsered people, you have to passup your 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 10th, then every five, does this mean that for directly sponsered people, (people you brought in personally or 1st level) you get the 1st, 3rd, 5th, monthly subscribtion? What happens to the 7th,8th, 9th, 11th,12th,13th and 14th person? As for the people that are not directly sponsered or 2nd level, the ones brought in by the people you directly sponsered, you would get their 2nd, 4th ,6th and 10th, then every five, what happens to the 7th 8th and 9th person? Who gets those?

    • Josh says

      Hi AJ,

You get all the commissions that don’t get passed up. So specifically you would get the 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th person.

For the 2nd level, the 7th, 8th and 9th commission would go to the sponsored person (not you or your direct sponsor).

  5. Ernest says

While looking over the following, in the eWallet Terms and Conditions there is this note:
*For closed eWallet accounts, Dormant Fee will be charged 1 month after the account closure.
It says on the Fee Schedule that Dormant Account Fee (After 6 months) $10.00 Monthly.

Does this mean that if things don’t work out for you in this endeavor and you close down your accounts that EN/eWallet will still charge you $10.00 a month?

    • Josh says

Hi Ernest. If you just left your money in the eWallet then yes. But if you were going to close your Empower network account then I would assume you would withdraw any money you had in the eWallet first…

  6. says

    Hi Josh,

Great Review. I recently joined EN and have been going through all the materials. I am just curious if you have gone ‘all in’ and if you have found the material to be as beneficial as Dave & Dave say it is?

I called a good friend today who has done SEO for several years now and he LOVED the idea of the EN model and may also want to join up.

    • Josh says

Yeah, both the Empower Network Inner Circle and 15k Formula products are quite good. It is a time commitment to go through all the training, but it is definitely worth it.

  7. Alex says

How does someone who does not write grammatically well and has no idea what topic, theme, or subject to blog about become successful with EN. Can one get technical assistance in writing the blog?

    • Josh says

Well part of the Empower Network training is learning how to pick a good topic to write about. You don’t necessarily need to be able to write to be successful with EN. You can definitely market the program in other ways, especially if you have an existing following. Or you can always outsource the writing if you wish.

  8. law says

Hey Josh. Do you need a facebook account to joined empower networking? Because I do not have a facebook account.

  9. Edward says

Hello, I am 18 and I recently tried this affiliate marketing stuff. I purchased google sniper 2 and I had a low budget. It didn’t work out as well as I would’ve liked. So I am trying again with this program. But I have a few questions. If I am on a low budget but I can afford this 25$ a month about how much more money would I have to spend to be successful.
    Thank You

    • Josh says

Hi Edward. That’s not really a question I can answer, although keep in mind there is the additional monthly fee you have to spend on the eWallet as well. It’s really up to you and how much initiative you take as an Empower Network member.

Some members under me have been very successful spending almost nothing. They do all their own writing, marketing, etc themselves. Others i know do spend money on paid traffic, solo ads, etc as a way to get more leads. It’s all about taking action and doing what you are comfortable with.

  10. says

I have read all the info and watched the entire video and the Empower program looks very tempting. However, is there any money back guarantee? Or a way to cancel it once I get in and don’t like it? Kinda tough signing up at $25/month if there is no info on cancellation or a cancellation period.
spodeman recently posted..Paid Social Media JobsMy Profile

    • Josh says

Hi Spodeman. There is no official Empower Network money back guarantee. However you may be able to negotiate with your EN sponsor if they want to offer that to you.

  11. David says

    Hey Josh great review,
I had one question, if Empower Network pays 100% commissions how does the company make money?

    • Josh says

Hey David. They make money through all the initial signups…since they are the top-level affiliates. Plus they get all the pass-up commissions.

  12. says

WOW! This was a very comprehensive overview of empower network. I’ve been an online marketer for over 4 years, and empower network is one of the best affiliate programs that I have personally ever seen. Wish you much success man!

    • Josh says

To become an affiliate, you’ll need to sign up for the $19.99/mo eWallet to receive payments.

And yes, basically this means recruiting people to become part of your team.

  13. says

We’ve been “took” so many times that we have some questions:
    1. How much money does it take on a monthly basis to be really successful using this program? (beyond the $25/mo and the $19.99/mo. for e-Wallet)?
    2. How many websites can you link to it and still have it be beneficial? And can I link EN back to my websites?
    3. It is not clear how you get traffic to the blog. How do you do that?
    4. How successful have you become by now – June, 2012?

    • Josh says

      Hi Linda,

Let me try to answer some of your questions:

      1) I don’t think you can put a money figure on what it takes to be successful. It really depends on where you are at in your own business already and how much time you can spend. If you already have a targeted mailing list for example, then you probably don’t need to spend a dime…although you’ll probably want to invest your profits in the other EN products that are offered to take advantage of the larger commissions.

      2) The Empower Network blog is just like any other blogging platform. You can link to whatever sites you want…your own or others.

      3) You can get traffic through SEO, guest posting, email marketing, Youtube, or whatever your favorite traffic source is.

      4) The Empower Network has been making me a nice passive income each month since I first joined, so I’m still quite happy with being part of the program.

The key to success with the Empower Network is going through the trainings and actually taking what you learn and putting it in action. For example, they’ll teach you what to write on your EN blog and how to market it, but if you don’t take action then you’re not going to be successful…it’s as simple as that.

      Hope that helps a bit.

    Hey Josh,

What’s going on! Thanks for sharing this awesome review about empower network. I love it. I came from mlsp since 2008 and before that from carboncopypro. Its really very interesting to see that you get 100% upfront commissions paid instantly. But what separates you from the rest of the crowd is your bonus package offer and your linkbuilding tactics which is why I am interested in joining. I am heading now to the bonus pack you are offering and will let you know about my decision. Thanks again for this great review.

So Josh, after what I have reviewed, I am still foggy on what is really being sold? Is there a product(s) or is the only product membership and the vehicle is blogging to get noticed to sell memberships into the Empower Network? Thanks

    • Josh says

Hi Devin. Yes, the basic membership gives you access to the Empower network blogging platform. The upsells give you access to additional training.

  16. says

Hey Josh, this is a very good blog, thanks a lot for the information…

I just have one problem, I am trying sign up to Empower network for $25 per month, however they only accept PayPal, would you know if they accept money from another payment processor.

Recently paypal shut me down and some of my marketing friends also lost their account..

    What do you think?

    Thanks in advance

    • Josh says

      Hi Bilaal,

It depends on who you sign up under. While Paypal used to be one option for affiliates to use, The Empower Network recently added a new eWallet option for members to use which means you should be able to pay via any of the major credit cards as well.

  17. Matt says

    Hey Josh,

I saw the video and salespage and I’m just about hooked. Love your bonuses by the way too! That’s the main reason why I would join under you for sure.

    But I have a question.

I see the check box for confirming the affiliate that referred me, will someone I refer actually have to check that box for me to get the affiliate sale? Cause I know some people might not check that box.

    • Josh says

I think so. But if they don’t check the box then they won’t get my Empower Network bonuses and the benefits of being part of our team. :)

  18. says

    Hi Josh,

Someone I met in Facebook gave me link to Empower Network but I didn’t see enough explanation about it so I started to search about Empower Network and I found your review.

I have a question, so if you write blogs daily do you get to choose your own niche? or you need to write something about Empower Network? I have a website that I am building it’s for my virtual assistant services since I am a freelancer. I placed some navigation tabs for affiliate marketing programs like online education and work from home opportunities. If I join empower network, how can I incorporate everything in my website? I am a little bit confused. I and my team are planning to do the daily blogging there so what would be the difference in here? If I sign up, am I going to get some banners that I can place in my website too (www.globalvirtualcareers.net) that will lead to empower network that I will own if ever? Am I getting the right idea? Please help me clarify things.

I will highly appreciate if you answer my questions.

    • Josh says

      Hi Ritchell,

Yes, with your Empower Network blog you can basically write about anything you want.

If you already have a website, then I would still post your very best content on your own site first. But you can always post things that you might not want to include on your main site to your Empower Network blog. But honestly, there’s no strict rules and it’s really up to you to find that balance.

With your EN blog, you would be taking advantage of the huge authority that you get from posting to that domain. This means in general, it’s much easier to rank for keywords you are targeting, when you post to your EN blog.

And yes, you can place banners on your own website that point the Empower network site to help you make sales. That’s certainly a good idea.

  19. says

Josh, This has to be the best Empower Network Review post I have read to date. My hat is off to you my friend. Also at the time of this comment the blog post is ranked #1 for this key work. Another congrats to you because so many are going for it. I’ll be stepping up my blogging efforts and following your example.

    Hi Josh,
Really like all this you wrote – I do regret more or less that I already signed up for the Empower Network with another sponsor… Well that’s just the way things work I guess. Still – as an unpaid member, because 1. I cannot get the funds free to sign up right away for the Costa Rica level, and 2. I needed some time to see if it really would be ‘my kind of thing’. Now I’ve read your posts I really understand the way it works – thank you!

  21. says

I would love to talk more to you about this, my e-mail address has been placed in this comment area if you would get back to me via that address I would appreciate it very much.

  22. says

Ok! So after reading your reply it seems like I’m not going to succeed with this process.

I’m retired and living on SS and it’s not much! I was willing to cough up the $125 for awhile and see if it would work for me, I’m new to all this keyword research, blogging and link building stuff.

That was the reason for joining this program, I thought that it was simply blog and then people would come to my blog with the help of the two Davids, but there are so many of you people that are more invested in blogging and training.

You have set up teams and most people would be joining you guy’s before finding me. I’m not fretting the money that I spent because you sometimes have to learn the hard way.

Looking at some of the team leaders I wonder how you would make a difference? We still have to learn all the stuff that I mentioned above and put it to use somehow.

I like your way of teaching and your honest thoughts.

So I may cancel out of this program and go to work (dirty four letter word) earn the money the way I know how! (sweat and toll earn then burn out)
    Well, all the best

    • Josh says

      Hi Lynn,

I can’t speak for other teams, but I think joining under our team could make a huge difference. :) My goal is to provide enough value for our team members that the basic $25 a month membership would be worth it, even if you don’t do anything at all with the Empower Network.

Also, it’s not necessary to get the Inner Circle membership when you start out…especially if you are budget constrained. The basic membership ($25/mo) is fine until you are at the point where you are earning Empower Network commissions. Once you reach that point, then you can leverage your earnings and purchase the other products to boost your earnings even more.

  23. says

    Hi Josh,
I’m new to empower network and I like your article here. I don’t understand some thing, its about blogging every day if your not a marketer, and being able to make money doing so, do you have any idea’s on that subject, they say you can do you know for a fact that a person can?

    • Josh says

Hi Lynn. The basic idea is, if you blog everyday, then people will find your content via the search engines, and a small % of them will see the EmpowerNetwork ads on your blog, sign up via your link, which will then earn you a nice affiliate commission.

Of course, that’s really over simplifying things. To really succeed with this method, it takes a little bit more effort than that.

Before you write, you need to do some keyword research on your potential blog post topic and target 1 or 2 specific keywords per post that you know you can rank for. Next you have to write a quality blog post on your topic. And then do some link building or social sharing to promote your post so that it will rank.

You must be dedicated to do this process every day.

If you are new to all this keyword research, blogging and link building stuff, then it’s extremely important that you find a good EmpowerNetwork sponsor who is willing to train you and help you do this. Otherwise, it’s more than likely that you will not succeed.

  24. says

    Hi Josh,

Thank you for this review. Its speedy growth is definitely something that grabs my attention. Im very new to affiliate marketing and blogging but I’m very eager to learn. Would you reccomend this as one of the first systems to get started with or some of the article sites you’ve reviewed?

    • Josh says

Hi Brandon. If you are willing to put in the time to follow 2 of the core principles which is to blog daily and market daily then yes I think you can have good success with the Empower Network. Especially if you signup under my team as we can help you with the marketing aspects.

  25. says

Great review Josh. I am not a member and probably will not be as I am already highly successful online. However, I do have many of my students looking into this program and opportunity from a pure SEO or, from a potential income generator and have found your review insightful and honest. Thank you for the information and I will pass this along to those within my system.

    God Bless,

    David J. Boozer

  26. Rozz says

    Hi Josh

will there be any issue if use Paypal for monthly subscription?
from what i know, Paypal are notorious for freezing accounts with this type of programs.

    • Josh says

Hi Rozz, if you’re talking about paying for your Empower Network membership, then you can use Paypal if the person you sign up under uses it.

If you are asking about receiving money then that’s a little different story. I am currently using Paypal to receive payments and it seems to work fine.

However, I have heard the same things that you mentioned that they don’t like MLM type programs. So I am wary about using Paypal long term and I don’t trust them in general.

So I will be switching over to using a merchant account shortly.

      • David Meyers says

Hi josh, first oft thanks for writing this piece.
I am definitely looking at getting started with you, but i was wondering if you knew if we can use any other payment options, like AlertPay, SolidTrust, SavingsPoint etc., for receiving affiliate commissions?

I really would like to use SavingsPoint out of all them, because the fees are very low, even the only drawback is US only.

        • Josh says

Hi David. I really appreciate you stopping by with your question.

Currently the Empower Network supports Paypal, AlertPay, Linkpoint and Authorize.net. At least those are the options I see in my account page. :)

  27. Ron says

Been doing a lot of research and reading several Empower Network reviews and I was thinking that the whole thing was potentially a scam. I mean, can blogging every day really make me money?

But I love how you explained how you are taking advantage of the blogging platform and it really opened up my eyes to how I could also take advantage of this.

I also watched some of the videos on the site, and I must say that David Wood and David Sharpe are excellent marketers and I can see why their sales funnel potentially converts so well.

I’m still on the fence about joining, but I really appreciate your honest review Josh. You gave me a lot to think about.

What’s really impressive to me though is how fast you were able to rank this post for the Empower network and Empower network review keywords. I might signup just to take you up on your bonus offer just to learn your system, lol.

    • Josh says

Thanks for the kind words Ron. Yeah, the blogging platform does work really well, but only if you are committed to consistently making posts to it. The Empower Network is certainly not a Get Rich Quick system and you do have to put some work into it.

But if you want to join under me Ron, I’ll be happy to show you how I make things work. :)

        • Josh says

Hi Sandy. Yes, with the new EmpowerNetwork eWallet you should be able to sign up and collect payments internationally.

          • Sandy says

not 100% sure how i can make money on this. can you email me or something so we can move forward?

          • Sandy says

          • Sandy says

i have not done any blogging nor done anything on keyword search SEO type, and without a primary business, how can i succeed with Empower Network? i am willing to learn and take action

  28. Kinley says

I’ve also seen a lot of people promoting the Empower Network and I really wasn’t sure what they were talking about until I read your review Josh. Thanks! It makes every much clearer.

So how do affiliate commissions get paid to you? Do they accept PayPal?

    • Josh says

Hi Kinley. Thanks for stopping by. Yes, the Empower Network does accept Paypal. But I think they encourage you to setup a merchant account too. It’s one of the first steps in their training and the process takes about an hour.
